Since olden times the sea has been alive and bustling, be it with smacks, packet boats or schoonders takingman and beast, goods, mail and cattle to and from the islands and beyond, into the world. Today this is all history but the archipelago is still the scene of many activities.

The Maritime Centre organizes cruises out of Faaborg and Svendborg on board the Meta, a more than 100 years old, well-kept schooner and out of Langeland and Ærø on board the Mjølner, a packet boat. From all departure points cruises visit a near-by islands.
